Senator Saddam Azlan Salim currently serves in the Virginia State Senate representing the 37th district. Saddam and his family immigrated to the United States from Bangladesh when he was a child. Saddam grew up in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County, graduating from Falls Church High School, Northern Virginia Community College, and then George Mason University with a BA and a MA in Public Administration. When not serving as our Senator, Saddam currently works as a federal budget analyst. He is currently the youngest serving State Senator.

Gun Violence Prevention

Senator Salim is proposing new laws that would ban concealed firearms in places that serve alcohol. He is also proposing mandatory waiting periods for firearm purchases, raising the minimum age to 21, and a study on the effects of gun violence

Protecting Virginia's Future

Senator Salim is working on bills to protect the environment. These bills would allow local communities to regulate gas powered leaf blowers and require labeling of invasive plants. Additionally, Senator Salim is co-patroning a budget amendment for funding for Metro.

An Virginia that Works for All

Senator Salim is introducing bills to address housing affordability, help provide medical coverage for fertility treatments, and assist disabled students in receiving accommodations at Virginia Higher Education institutions.
